South Shore Dive Sites
When experienced divers think of Kauai's south-shore diving attractions, they often think of turtles. Fully grown Hawaiian green sea turtles reaching 300 pounds. These ancient, graceful reptiles appear to be social, often with multiple generations residing in the same location - perfect for visitors to observed them underwater. Long-term tagging studies reveal that within the Hawaiian archipelago, there are approximately 750 adult female green turtles in permanent or semi-permanent residence. In 1978 all turtles in Hawaii became protected under the Endangered Species Act. Implementation of the Act has allowed turtle population in Hawaii to replenish themselves again. However turtles grow slowly, not reaching sexual maturity until 25 years of age. For that reason, only recently have turtles been considered a true success story since verification required more than two decades. We have over a dozen sites where divers can swim with turtles of various ages. Ask your divemaster to help you distinguish between male and female turtles! We invite you to experience the turtles, the lava tubes, the thick black coral gardens and the friendly fish of the South side with us, Bubbles Below, as your marine guides.

Variety Is Key
There are other dive sites (not listed above) which we visit on occasion. We don't tend to dive them very often for one reason or another (mostly weather related). But if we have a request to go to a specific dive site, we can accommodate your request depending upon weather and sea conditions. The names of some of these sites are Ice Box, Sculptured Reef, Superbowl Sunday, and Kanaka Nui.. Also, check out our information on dive sites at Mana Crack (on Kauai's rugged northwest coast) and Ni'ihau. For information on diving the East and North shores, please email us.
